How to write a killer Instagram bio

February 26, 2021

Your brand’s Instagram bio is the first chance you get to make a stand-out impression on potential customers and get them to follow you and buy your products! So how can you create the perfect Instagram bio? Below we go over six tips so you can nail your Instagram bio!

1. Add your name

Just like you would introduce yourself in real life, include your name in the Instagram ‘Name field.’ But that’s not all! You could also include important keywords that may make you pop up when people search for them. For example, @thisiscomb uses ‘Manuka Honey Infused HairCare’ in its name field.

2. Let people know who you are

You can attract your ideal audience to follow your page with short, simple sentences about who your brand is and what you stand for. Or you could string these sentences together like a business pitch. Keep this writing in your tone of voice and focus on your business’s key points/what makes you stand out eg. NZ made, organic, vegan products, skincare, wellness, and beauty. Also, don’t be afraid to use emojis to break up your text and make your bio more fun!

3. Add in a link

Instagram allows you to post one link in your bio (so use it carefully)! You could add a link to your website, Facebook, Linkedin, Shopify account, a particular product, or Linkin. bio. Ideally, these links will be short, to attract the viewer’s attention, and open onto a new site.

4. Contact information

You can always add your phone number or physical address to your Instagram profile (you can also add a ‘contact’ or ‘email’ button down below this). The good news is that if you have an Instagram Business account, then your address won’t use up any of those precious 150 characters for your Instagram bio. Yes!

5. Add a call to action to your profile

Drive more engagement to special events, sales, or particular products with a call to action eg. @axeandarbornz say: 🛒 shop here: 👇🏽https://www.axeandarbor.co.nz/

6. Your profile picture

Along with your Instagram bio, you should also think carefully about what profile picture to use to best attract people to your brand. You may want to use your logo, or maybe a picture of yourself, or if you’re a photographer, you may want to use your favourite picture that sums up your photography. Whatever you choose, this image will be the first little glimpse of your brand, so choose wisely! Plus, remember to post stories regularly to highlight your profile and remind your followers that you exist.

So, now you have our top tips on how to make your bio stand out in this oversaturated platform. Make sure to use them to gain more followers and potential customers. Because you know what they say, first impressions count!
